The Süheyla Nesting Plates are designed to move between individual service and a layered centerpiece. Hand-formed and painted in a woman-owned ceramic studio on Turkey’s Aegean coast, the set includes three graduated oval plates, each carrying its own cobalt botanical study. Displayed side by side, the changing branches create a loose garden composition; stacked together, their softly irregular rims form a sculptural arrangement.
Aegean Studio Work: Each plate is shaped and decorated by hand in a boutique ceramic studio along Turkey’s western coast, a region with deep connections to both Mediterranean dining and ceramic production.
Individual Botanical Studies: The three designs are related without being identical. Varied stems, leaves, and branching forms give each size a distinct identity within the set.
Expressive Brushwork: Cobalt lines retain the slight shifts in pressure and spacing of hand painting, bringing movement to the pale porcelain ground.
Limoges Porcelain: Fine porcelain gives the plates a luminous surface and delicate visual profile while remaining suitable for regular table service.
Graduated Ovals: Three complementary sizes accommodate different portions while maintaining a consistent elongated silhouette.
Nesting Construction: The plates fit inside one another for compact storage and create a layered display when not in use.
Food-Safe Finish: Non-toxic glazing protects the painted surfaces and allows the set to serve both sweet and savory foods.
A Progression of Small Bites: Divide olives, cheeses, cured meats, nuts, or confections among the three plates for a composed aperitif spread.
Breakfast Service: Separate fruit, pastries, butter, and preserves while maintaining a coordinated presentation.
Dinner Details: Use the smaller plates for condiments and garnishes, reserving the largest for a shared appetizer or side dish.
Nested Display: Stack the set on an open shelf or sideboard where the painted branches remain visible between gatherings.
