The Lhasa Serving Plate brings the expressive quality of studio pottery to an elegant, elongated form. Made in small batches from Limoges porcelain, each plate is individually shaped and hand-painted in a woman-owned workshop in Turkey. A botanical stem travels across the pale surface in loose, confident brushwork, while a fine painted rim traces the plate’s softly irregular silhouette.
Turkish Workshop Production: Formed and decorated in a small, woman-owned workshop, the plate reflects a slower approach to tableware in which shaping and painting remain individual processes.
Hand-Painted Botanicals: The leaf motif is applied by hand rather than transferred mechanically, allowing the spacing, line weight, and movement of the design to differ subtly from one plate to another.
Small-Batch Character: Slight shifts in shape, color, and surface preserve the individuality of the work and distinguish each plate from uniform factory-made porcelain.
Limoges Porcelain: Fine porcelain provides a luminous white ground for the painted decoration and a refined counterpoint to the plate’s handmade contours.
Dual Surface Finish: The interior is smoothly glazed, while the exterior retains a matte finish that emphasizes the tactile quality of the hand-shaped form.
Protected Decoration: The botanical motif is sealed beneath the glaze, helping preserve its color through serving and washing.
Food-Safe Glaze: Finished with a non-toxic glaze suitable for serving food.
Mezze and Appetizers: The narrow profile is well suited to olives, cheeses, stuffed dates, crostini, and other small bites.
Individual Presentation: Use for a composed dessert, afternoon pastry, or carefully plated first course.
Tabletop Detail: Layer alongside simple white dinnerware to introduce painterly line and an unexpected silhouette without crowding the setting.
