The Flo Brown Merino Throw begins with a soft brown field, then draws the eye across its surface with dense black embroidery. Long, irregular stitches create a textured linear pattern on one side and a subtler impression on the reverse, allowing the textile to be displayed in two ways.
Handwoven and embroidered in Nepal from Australian merino wool, the generously sized square balances warmth with a light, fluid drape. Its restrained palette and tactile surface make it equally suited to a sofa, reading chair, or the end of a bed.
Studio Variously Design: The Flo collection was developed by Michigan based textile studio Studio Variously, founded by designer Anjali Purohit.
Nepalese Artisan Work: Each throw is woven and embroidered by hand through direct partnerships with artisan communities in Nepal.
Women Artisan Employment: Production supports skilled women artisans and the continuation of handloom weaving and embroidery practices.
Small Batch Production: Limited production reduces material waste while allowing greater attention to the weave, stitching, and finishing of each piece.
Australian Merino Wool: Fine merino gives the throw a naturally soft surface, comfortable warmth, and graceful drape.
Hand Embroidery: Black stitching travels vertically across the brown ground, building depth through changes in line length, density, and placement.
Reversible Character: The embroidery is pronounced on one side and more understated on the other.
Large Square Shape: Its 53 inch square proportion offers an alternative to the usual rectangular throw and allows it to be folded, draped, or wrapped in several directions.
Eco Swiss Dyes: Certified Eco Swiss dyes are used to achieve the brown and black palette.
Sofa Layer: Fold across the back or arm of a sofa to display the contrast between the soft ground and dark embroidery.
Reading Chair: Keep within reach for warmth while allowing the stitched surface to remain part of the room.
Bed Accent: Arrange across the foot or corner of a bed as a compact textile layer.
Personal Wrap: The soft merino and square shape make it comfortable to drape around the shoulders.
