The Draper Pewter Pendant Light is shaped by hand from wire and wrapped in rows of glass and acrylic beads. Its rounded lower body narrows toward the top, creating an organic silhouette defined as much by the woven construction as by the light passing through it.
Handcrafted in Haiti, the pendant reflects a beadworking method with roots in South African wire art that was introduced to Haitian artisans in 2015. The pewter colored beads give the open framework a dark, metallic appearance while allowing points of light to remain visible between each strand.
Hand Sculpted Frame: Wire is bent and formed by hand to create the pendant’s rounded profile.
Woven Beadwork: Strands of glass and acrylic beads are wrapped across the structure in closely spaced horizontal rows.
Pewter Palette: Dark gray and metallic tones emphasize the pattern of the weave without overwhelming the room.
Open Structure: Small spaces between the beads allow light to filter through the entire form.
The pendant is produced by Haitian artisans using a wire and bead technique brought to Haiti from South Africa. Frames are formed and welded before beads are strung onto wire and woven around the finished structure. The process combines workshop fabrication with detailed handwork that artisans can complete from their homes.
Kitchen Lighting: Hang above a counter, breakfast area, or compact island for focused pattern and illumination.
Dining Area: Use individually over a small table or group several pendants for a broader arrangement.
Covered Patio: The corrosion resistant construction can also be used in a protected outdoor setting.
Material Pairing: Complements wood, concrete, dark metal, woven fibers, and understated ceramic surfaces.
